2016 Run (317) Race Series

Fountain Square 2015
I'm super excited to tell you I'm an Ambassador for the Run (317) race series this year!  If you've been following our blog for a while, you know these are some of my favorite races.  They are all on Thursday nights, and each one is 3.17 miles through a different and unique neighborhood in the 317 area code.

Fountain Square 2014
They started in 2014 with just one race, in October in Fountain Square.  Last year they expanded to three races: June in Broad Ripple, July on Mass Ave, and October in Fountain Square again.  I have done all four of those races, and I was really happy when they announced that this year there will be five.  The same three as before, plus May on the Circle downtown, and September in the Carmel Arts District.

Why do I like these races so much?  So many reasons!

Broad Ripple w/our parents
I'm an evening runner and with these races all being on Thursday nights, they are perfect for me.  Instead of tossing and turning, worrying about oversleeping and missing an early morning race time, I get to look forward to the races all day while I'm working.  Bonus: the Mass Ave race is close enough for me to walk to after work.

They run through some really cool parts of town, not just the usual running routes around here.  It's no secret that I love my adult hometown of Indianapolis.  It's an exciting place to live and there is always so much to see and do.  I really enjoy that these races take me to different places - I don't like to get in a rut.

FBG at Mass Ave
Each race benefits a different local charity - helping to make an already great city even better.  Greater Indy Habitat for Humanity (The Circle), School on Wheels (Broad Ripple), Humane Society of Indianapolis (Mass Ave), The Villages (Carmel Arts District), and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (Fountain Square).

They are really affordable.  Now I have to be honest and tell you that I am getting to run them free this year as an Ambassador.  But if I didn't, I would be running them anyway, and all these opinions are mine.  I wouldn't promote something if I didn't believe in it.  If you sign up now, you get to do all 5 races for $132, which comes out to $26.40 per race.  If you sign up for a mini-series of 3 races (you pick which 3), that's just $87.12, or $29.04 per race.  You can sign up here: https://raceroster.com/events/2016/8268/2016-run317-series-3-race-mini-series, or for an even better deal sign up at either the Carmel or Mini Expo and don't pay any online processing fees.  (P.S. I'll be at the Mini Expo on Friday, May 6 signing people up, so look for the Run (317) booth.).  If you can only fit one race into your schedule, that's a mere $33.  Prices go up 3 weeks before each race, so sign up early.

So. Much. Swag.

This is Cheerwine
At each race you get:
    That's sweet tea, really
A different souvenir glassware item (look for wine glasses & Mason jars this year).

A coupon for a free 6-inch sub from Penn Station.

A Run (317) Koozie and Run (317) bumper sticker.

Two free beers for runners 21 and older.

A half-zip tech pullover with either the five race series or three race mini-series.

Ok, these are beer
Series point competition with the five race series.

Best post-race party in the 317!  Beer and a DJ and food trucks, plus each race is in an area with great local restaurants to feed that runger.

    1. Hi Julie! Thanks for stopping by. It is a lot of fun. They're looking to expand, so maybe we'll be doing Run(828) soon!
