I ran 3 miles last Tuesday as scheduled. It was hard, though. I was feeling all PMS-y, tired, cranky, not in the mood. I powered through anyway.
Wednesday was supposed to be swimming for cross-training day, but the weather was so cold that I didn't want to get in the pool, and I still felt so cranky that I didn't want to do anything. I ended up working on my niece's wedding earrings instead of working out. Here's a pic of where I stopped Wednesday night.
Thursday was supposed to be hill sprints, but I had to go to the grocery store on the way home, then by the time I got home & put the groceries away, I was so tired & hungry I didn't feel like I could do anything.
Friday was yoga day, as usual. Saturday would normally be my long run - 11 miles this week - but I was volunteering with my church to help freshmen move into their dorm rooms at IUPUI. Spending 8 hours repeatedly climbing 4 flights of stairs carrying boxes of clothes and cases of bottled water hopefully counts as both my skipped strength training and my skipped hill sprints.
I planned to do my long run on Sunday after church, but I was so tired and sore from the day before. Coupled with a pounding headache from fall allergies, I just never felt as if I could get out and run, or even walk 11 miles.
Today (Monday), my head is still pounding, so I am again skipping strength training. I can run with a headache - it usually clears my head at least temporarily - but sit-ups and squats usually make my headache worse if I try.
Writing it all out like this makes it all sound like a bunch of whiny excuses. I hope I haven't derailed my training too far. I am going to go for my normal run tomorrow - no excuses at all. I'll post a quick update tomorrow when I'm done.
I wouldn't worry. Tim hasn't run since Thursday also. Repeating 2 weeks ago training again.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I will feel better after I get out there & run tonight.
